We have new dogs in the kennel! They will be posted one at a time and we're starting with Tori Lou. She was a fantastic racer having made it to AA at Wheeling Downs, then she was a mother and now she is ready to retire.

Racing name: Tori Lou
Weight: 60 pounds

It's our buddy Dewey! He's keeping warm and dry, despite the frigid weather. We're happy to report that he's thriving in his new home.

The OGA would like to take a moment to thank the following people for their donations of food through Furever Pets' holiday food drive:
Barnaby who donated Natural Balance
Greta who donated California Natural
Kathryn Moreland who donated California Natural
Lori Datena who donated California Natural
Ike who donated Simply Natural
Bronwyn who donated California Natural
The Moran-Kuhn Family who donated California Natural
Hachi who donated Solid Gold
Mary Jo Hurley who donated California Natural
Gustav who donated Natural Balance
and all the anonymous donors who gave a total of an additional 71 pounds of food!
Thanks!
Due to incleminite weather, today's walk hosted by the Greyhound Walking Club has been cancelled.
Due to the expected severe weather the Greyhound Walking Club has updated their meeting place for the walk. The new information is as follows:
When: Sunday December 14th
Time: 11 am, rain or shine
Where: Sellwood Riverfront Park at the parking lot at SE 7th Ave. and Sellwood Blvd.
Inquiries: greyhoundwalkingclub at comcast dot net

Did you adopt a hound from the OGA? Have pictures of them joining in the holiday festivities? We would love to share them with the other greyhound addicts of the world on our blog so email the photos and your dog's name(s) to vulferius at gmail dot com.
Here's one of my moose, it's not a holiday photo because, well, to him, change is bad.
Our girl Jan seems to be doing great in her new home. She's got comfy beds, pajamas and loving people! Hooray for Jan!

After being in a home for a number of months Omar has come back to us. Although he had a fantastic home he exhibited acute separation anxiety and, unfortunately, his family's schedule could not be modified to meet his needs. But that is enough of the negative, Omar is truly a wonderful boy. He is good with cats and dogs of all breeds and sizes, he walked very well on leash, and he has a wonderfully affectionate personality. Indeed, Omar is, with one exception, an idea companion and would be well suited to someone who is either home almost all the time or someone who can take him everywhere.

I just bought pet food at 10% off and you can get that discount too! Furever Pets is having their annual holiday food drive. Last year they collected over 3,500 pounds of food for various animal non-profits and this year they want to beat that record. All you have to do is purchase a bag of food of 4 pounds or more to donate to the group of your choice (*ahem* Oregon Greyhound) and you will receive 10% off on both the donation bag and the food you purchase for yourself!

We had time to evaluate a couple more dogs' compatibility with small animals. The results are below and we have added a graphic to indicate their ability to live with cats or small dogs. Our model for the key was a cat we used introduce the dogs to but who has retired from that position to enjoy his advancing years, thanks Bean!
Peggy Sue tested cat tolerant.

Chris tested incompatible with small animals.

Jan's lucky was Saturday, she went home to her new family! We will miss our goofy little girl but look forward to seeing her at walks and events. Maybe we will even get some photo updates... *hint* *hint*

We would like to thank Nancy and Salty's Dog & Cat Shop for generously allowing us to have an adoption event there today! In attendance were Whistle, Sugar, Heather, Kara, Hannah, Dream, Arapaho and Peggy Sue and all had a great time. Whistle really thought that all the toys were for her personal pleasure and had a great time with all of our middle-aged ladies. We would also like to thank everyone who came to visit our lovely ladies, it was a pleasure to meet you all and talk dogs.
